Overview
Senior Residential Childcare Worker – £35,121.60 – £37,243.20 (OTE, inclusive of sleep-ins) – Derby, Derbyshire
The role involves leading a care team in a safe, supportive environment for children and young people aged 5–18 with emotional, social, and behavioural needs. You will work with children and young people to support their physical, emotional, and educational development within a structured setting.
You must have the right to work in the UK, as we are unable to provide sponsorship.
Responsibilities
* Lead and organise shifts, ensuring effective delegation and teamwork
* Support young people with education, activities, and personal development
* Follow and implement care plans and risk assessments
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to care reviews
* Handle conflict resolution and provide debriefs for the team
* Deliver high standards of care and support
* Encourage participation in leisure, learning, and daily living skills
* Carry out key working sessions and develop co-key workers
* Facilitate service user meetings
* Ensure compliance with safeguarding and care regulations
* Promote a stable, nurturing environment where young people can thrive
Requirements
* NVQ Level 3 (or higher) in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People)
* At least 2 years’ experience in senior residential childcare
* 5 years' UK working experience in
* Skilled in managing challenging behaviour and supporting complex needs
* Good communication and organisational skills
* Understanding of Children’s Home Regulations and safeguarding standards
* Full UK driving licence
