An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced NPI Manufacturing Engineer to join a growing advanced manufacturing business working on complex metallic products and assemblies.
This NPI Manufacturing Engineer role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced engineering environment and enjoys taking new products from concept through to full production. The successful NPI Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in driving industrialisation activities, improving manufacturability, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) activities from concept through to production ramp-up
* Design and develop tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing processes for metallic components and assemblies
* Produce manufacturing documentation including SOPs, work instructions, and process flows
* Work closely with Design Engineering to improve design for manufacture (DFM) and producibility
* Support project delivery through effective planning, risk management, and milestone tracking
* Collaborate with Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to ensure smooth product industrialisation
* Support PFMEA/DFMEA activities and drive risk mitigation actions during NPI phases
* Liaise with external suppliers regarding tooling and manufacturing support
* Assess manufacturing methods to ensure the most cost-effective production solutions
* Support capital equipment and tooling investment justifications
* Ensure manufacturing processes comply with relevant quality and regulatory standards
Skills & Experience Required
* Previous experience within an NPI Manufacturing Engineer or Manufacturing Engineering position
* Strong understanding of the full NPI lifecycle and product industrialisation
* CAD experience with the ability to create and interpret technical drawings
* Experience developing manufacturing sequences for complex assemblies
* Knowledge of PFMEA, PPAP, and continuous improvement methodologies
* Experience working with MRP/ERP systems
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within a manufacturing environment
* Understanding of fabricated and machined component manufacturing processes
* Experience with welding and non-destructive testing would be advantageous
* Commercial awareness including make vs buy and cost analysis considerations desirable
Qualifications
* Degree qualified in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline
* Equivalent industry experience will also be considered
