Holford pharmacy are a new distance selling pharmacy that has been created to meet the ever-growing needs of women’s health. We are focused on providing medications prescribed by specialists to help these patients including unlicenced medications.
Job Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician supports the pharmacist in the accurate preparation of non-sterile pessaries tailored to individual patient prescriptions. This role requires meticulous measuring, mixing, moulding, and packaging of pessaries while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, in accordance with GPhC standards, SOPs, and all relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Accurately prepare, label, and dispense medicines, including controlled drugs, in accordance with prescriptions and SOPs.
* Assist in the compounding of non-sterile pessaries, including measuring, melting, mixing, and molding according to prescribed formulations.
* Accurately weigh and handle active pharmaceutical ingredients and excipients used in pessary preparation.
* Operate specialised equipment such as molds and mixers to produce consistent and uniform pessaries.
* Ensure proper labeling and packaging of compounded pessaries with clear patient instructions.
* Maintain a clean and organized compounding area, adhering to hygiene and safety protocols specific to non-sterile preparations.
* Monitor inventory of compounding materials, ingredients, and supplies; assist in stock replenishment.
* Document compounding procedures and batch records for quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
* Dispose of waste materials according to safety guidelines.
* Assist pharmacists in dispensing compounded pessaries and provide basic information under supervision.
* Follow all relevant safety, health, and regulatory standards to ensure patient safety
* Ensure all activities comply with the Medicines Act, Misuse of Drugs Regulations, and GPhC standards.
* Accurately complete controlled drug registers and other legal documentation.
Qualifications & Registration:
* Mandatory: GPhC registration as a Pharmacy Technician.
* Evidence of ongoing CPD.
* Previous experience in compounding of medicinal products
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Good knowledge of pharmacy law, ethics, and practice.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
* Salary £30,000-£35,000 equivalent FTE, dependant on experience.
* Pension.
* 25 days annual holiday pro rata.
