We're working with a specialist educational setting in Sunderland seeking a BSL Support Worker to join their team from September on a full-time basis.
The setting supports pupils with hearing impairments and additional communication needs, providing a nurturing and inclusive environment where every learner is encouraged to succeed.
We're looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated professional who can help bridge communication barriers and support pupils throughout their educational journey.
What you'll be doing
• Supporting pupils using British Sign Language throughout the school day
• Assisting pupils in accessing classroom learning and activities
• Promoting independence and confidence in communication
• Supporting pupils during lessons, breaktimes and school activities
• Working collaboratively with teachers and support staff
• Recording and monitoring pupil progress and engagement
What we're looking for
• BSL qualification or equivalent experience
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• A calm and patient approach to supporting pupils
• Experience working with children or young people is desirable
• A genuine commitment to inclusion and accessibility
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
