How this role fits into the vision and objectives of Causeway
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Accommodation Advocate working within our North East safehouses, primarily supporting a safehouse for Vietnamese survivors of modern-day slavery. This role includes providing service users with emotional and practical support, advocating on their behalf, and communicating with other organizations, including health professionals, legal representatives, and the Home Office.
Responsibilities:
1. Case working with service users identified as PVOHT (Potential Victims of Human Trafficking).
2. Participating in regular feedback and review meetings with the Accommodation Coordinator.
3. Arranging and attending appointments with service users, including their families.
4. Managing all paperwork and details related to VOHT, including online reporting, weekly reviews, risk assessments, support plans, and inductions, in adherence to contractual terms.
5. Performing duties related to accommodation, such as cleaning and preparing bedrooms for new arrivals, and conducting basic health and safety checks.
6. Supporting volunteers working on shifts, ensuring they follow policies and procedures.
7. Meeting all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
8. Ensuring the progression of PVOHT through the system.
9. Liaising professionally with organizations and individuals regarding VOHT and Causeway, including SATco, UK Visas and Immigration, the Modern Slavery Human Trafficking Unit, police, and medical professionals.
10. Identifying support hours and accurately logging all hours worked.
11. Completing paperwork correctly and promptly.
12. Preparing exit strategies in a timely manner.
13. Responding to out-of-hours crises according to the standby rota.
14. Handling out-of-hours referrals, conducting inductions, weekly reviews, and updating the IT system.
15. Adhering to internal procedures related to Causeway, the Safe Houses, and relevant legislation.
16. Promoting Causeway in accordance with contractual terms, including attending events on behalf of Causeway as needed.
