Overview
Residential Children\'s Support Worker – Braintree. White Trees group is owned and operated by SureCare Residential Ltd. Our role is to provide a home for vulnerable and complex young people in residential care, focusing on continuity of care, therapeutic interventions, and building brighter futures through a team approach.
Responsibilities
* Main Duties - In the Home
o Provide nurture, love, guidance and support in the young person\'s home; contribute to a homely environment and day-to-day routines, including cleaning and tidying as part of therapeutic care.
o Empower and encourage young people to develop life skills and independence (e.g., preparing meals, travel training, domestic duties).
o Ensure detailed handovers between shifts and timely, effective shift planning.
o Maintain accurate paperwork for each young person (engagement, mood, conversations, thoughts and feelings).
o Support day-to-day operations, safety checks, cleanliness, and a welcoming home environment.
o Engage with Wellbeing Services to ensure access to therapeutic support for all young people.
o Support medication administration in line with policy and regulatory expectations.
o Manage petty cash responsibly and report discrepancies to management.
o Drive company vehicles to transport young people to education, meetings and activities; perform pre-journey car safety checks.
o Provide personal care as needed for young people who are unwell or require support with personal hygiene.
o Stay up to date with all policies and procedures and implement them in practice.
* Main Duties - Care Planning
o Encourage young people to share views and concerns; develop and update individualised care plans monthly (minimum).
o Involve young people in decision-making about their care; advocate on their behalf.
o Support achievement of targets within care plans; be inventive in approach.
o Follow individual positive behaviour plans; share new strategies with the team.
o Develop and update Risk Assessments (RAMPs) and Positive Behaviour Plans; ensure familiarity with all risk assessments.
o Use approved NFPS techniques for physical interventions; participate in debriefs to reflect on incidents.
o Encourage involvement in activities and opportunities to enrich life both inside and outside the home.
o Prioritise accurate recordkeeping and understand the implications of substandard paperwork.
o Understand the impact of deviating from the home\'s structure and plans on long-term development.
o Act as a key worker, completing relevant paperwork within timescales, including weekly reports.
* Support/Training
o Participate in monthly Supervisions with Senior Leadership Team and Wellbeing Service to support CPD.
o Complete White Trees Induction Programme (4 days).
o Attend NFPS Physical Intervention and Behaviour Management Training; physical interventions may be used as a last resort to keep young people and staff safe.
o Keep mandatory training up to date with current legislation.
o Attend booked training; value and prioritize participation.
o Level 3 is essential; Level 5 may be accessed via internal promotions; complete Level 3 within 2 years as required.
