About the Role
We are looking for a Senior E-Commerce Full Stack Software Engineer to play a key role in the development, optimisation and future modernisation of our high-traffic B2C websites and mobile apps. You will work across both front-end and back-end technologies, lead on performance optimisation, CRO and A/B testing, and help evolve our digital platforms over the next 18–24 months.
This is a senior technical position suited to someone who can make an immediate impact, bring strong practical engineering experience, and contribute to the long-term technical vision of the team. You’ll collaborate closely with CRO specialists, SEO analysts, UX/UI designers, digital stakeholders and other engineers across a growing digital function.
What You’ll Do
* Build, run and optimise A/B tests and personalisation experiments to improve conversion and customer experience.
* Develop and maintain high-performing, responsive B2C websites and apps.
* Enhance SEO features, website crawlability, indexing and search ranking performance.
* Implement front-end improvements focused on performance, accessibility, and mobile-first best practices.
* Work with existing back-end technologies (Classic ASP / ASP.NET) while contributing to long-term platform modernisation.
* Manage and optimise digital analytics and marketing integrations using tools such as Adobe Launch, Adobe Analytics and Adobe Target.
* Monitor performance using tools such as New Relic and ELK, identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
* Contribute technical insights during Agile ceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
* Ensure adherence to security best practices and relevant UK compliance standards.
* Coach and mentor team members and support in building long-term engineering capability.
What You’ll Bring
* 10+ years’ experience in software engineering with experience building high-availability, high-traffic systems.
* Strong full-stack capability:
o Back end: Classic ASP, ASP.NET, familiarity with C# or Java
* Experience working on transactional E-Commerce sites or similar high-volume digital environments.
* Strong practical experience with CRO, A/B testing and personalisation (Adobe Target preferred).
* Solid technical SEO knowledge including indexing, site architecture, structured data and mobile optimisation.
* Experience with performance optimisation (lazy loading, caching, code splitting) and metrics (FCP, LCP, CLS).
* Understanding of web security best practices (XSS, CSRF, CORS, SQLi).
* Ability to work autonomously, make informed technical decisions and handle multiple workstreams.
* Experience across digital marketing technologies, merchandising and user experience optimisation.
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools (GitLab, Jenkins, Selenium).
* Experience with UK retail or multi-category E-Commerce environments.
* Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline.
