Job Title: Product Research & Business Development Officer
Hours: Full-time
Location: Tollcross, Glasgow
Reporting to: Operations Manager
Contract: 12 months initially
Salary: £26,000 per annum (starting salary), paid 4-weekly
Benefits: 25 days holiday + public holidays, 10% employer pension contribution, commission
Purpose of the Role
To lead on product research and impact evaluation while actively supporting the commercial growth of Prepmate — a socially-driven meal kit product developed by The Scottish Pantry Network. This role combines customer insight gathering with proactive sales and relationship management to ensure the product offer is evidence-based, market-ready, and scalable across Scotland and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
1. Research & Product Insight
* Conduct research with service users, community partners, and stakeholders to inform recipe development and product design.
* Support academic and internal evaluations, including data collection on health, affordability, and customer satisfaction.
* Monitor trends in the meal kit, convenience food, and community food sectors to identify opportunities for product expansion.
* Produce clear reports and actionable insights to support continuous improvement of Prepmate's offering.
2. Business Development & Sales
* Identify and approach prospective partners and customers, including housing associations, NHS teams, local authorities, schools, and third sector organisations.
* Develop and deliver compelling pitches, proposals, and information packs tailored to customer needs.
* Maintain an up-to-date CRM system, managing leads from first contact through to conversion and retention.
* Work collaboratively with internal teams (Test Kitchen, Operations, Digital) to ensure customer needs shape product and service development.
3. Partnership Development
* Build and nurture strong relationships with new and existing partners to support sustained use of Prepmate meal kits.
* Represent Prepmate at trade shows, networking events, and sector briefings, promoting the product's impact on health, affordability, and food access.
* Support the creation of partnership agreements, MOUs, and onboarding processes to ensure a smooth transition from interest to implementation.
4. General
* Carry out any other duties that may be reasonably required to support the needs of the business.

We are seeking a confident, dynamic individual who can drive sales while staying grounded in the social purpose of our work. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable with data and people, able to shift from research and insight to a confident sales pitch and back again.
Essential
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with diverse stakeholders
* Research or evaluation experience (qualitative and/or quantitative)
* Confident communicator with experience delivering presentations and adapting messages for different audiences
* Analytical thinker with attention to detail
* Self-starter who is proactive, organised, and resilient
* Motivated by social impact and improving food access
Desirable
* Experience in B2B sales or account management within food, health, or social enterprise sectors
* Knowledge of CRM systems or other customer management tools
* Understanding of public health, community development, or social procurement
* Familiarity with trends in the meal kit, convenience food, or community food markets
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for customer meetings
