Charity Manager – Waste Not Want Not Limited
Location: Hybrid - Chippenham, Wiltshire and WFH
Hours: 37.5 hours hybrid working

Waste Not Want Not is a vibrant and impactful charity based in Chippenham, dedicated to supporting the local community through the reuse of surplus furniture and household goods. We help financially disadvantaged individuals furnish their homes affordably, provide essential items free of charge to those in crisis, and offer meaningful volunteering opportunities to people of all backgrounds and abilities.
Due to the upcoming retirement of our current Charity Manager, we are now seeking a successor to lead our operations and continue driving our mission forward with passion and strategic insight.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and inspire staff, volunteers, and stakeholders to deliver our charitable objectives.
* Develop and implement improvement plans to enhance performance and social impact.
* Identify opportunities for growth, partnerships, and innovation.
Community Engagement & Advocacy
* Act as the public face of the charity, representing us at events and in the media.
* Build strong relationships with community leaders, donors, and partners.
* Increase our visibility through outreach and engagement initiatives.
Operational Management
* Oversee day-to-day operations, including showroom management, health and safety, and administrative functions.
* Ensure the showroom is welcoming, well-stocked, and professionally presented.
* Handle customer enquiries and complaints with professionalism and care.
* Set and manage the annual budget, ensuring financial stability and compliance.
* Lead fundraising efforts including grant applications, donor relations, and events.
* Report regularly to the Board of Trustees on financial and operational performance.
Team Development
* Recruit, train, and support staff and volunteers.
* Conduct annual performance reviews for staff and long-term volunteers.
Person Specification
* Demonstrable track record in a leadership role managing staff and/or volunteers.
* Proven success in strategic planning, operational development, and financial oversight.
* Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
* Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
* Passion for supporting those facing financial hardship.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital tools.
* Flexibility to attend occasional evening/weekend events.
