Aneurin Bevan University Health Board supports flexible working.

There is a temporary top-up for Bands 2 and 3 reflecting the incorporation of the living wage of £12.60 per hour - £24,638 per annum. This will be in place until the 2025/26 pay uplift is confirmed.

Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, enthusiastic, and motivated Legal Services Manager. The role involves managing a broad portfolio including clinical negligence, personal injury claims, Coroner Inquests, and Patient Redress under the “Putting Things Right” Regulations, impacting the Health Board and its staff.

English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will manage cases involving Coroner inquests, witness statement preparations, supporting staff, assessing and managing cases through the PTR Redress process, evaluating legal liability, and handling clinical negligence and personal injury claims. They will also prepare high-level evidence of learning and assurance for submission to the Welsh Risk Pool.

The candidate should have relevant experience from a claims, legal, inquest, or related investigatory background.

Education/Qualifications/Experience

Essential criteria

* Masters level or equivalent in Law or related subjects
* Substantial work experience in relevant areas
* Experience managing a complex portfolio of work
* Experience handling highly sensitive information

Desirable criteria

* Significant NHS management experience
* Legal qualification
* Clinical qualification
* Analytical or IT qualification
* Experience with patient safety, learning, or improvement in healthcare

Skills/Abilities

* High-level analytical and judgment skills
* Strong report writing skills
* Proficient IT skills with database applications
* Research and investigatory skills
* Effective planning and organizational skills
