Staff IC Design Engineer
📍 Location: Oxfordshire (Hybrid)
đź’Ľ Salary: Competitive + share options + benefits
Wave Recruitment is supporting a pioneering deep-tech company developing the next generation of hardware for AI acceleration — built on a breakthrough approach to high-speed, high-efficiency computing.
This is an opportunity to join a world-class engineering team working at the intersection of analogue and mixed-signal IC design, and AI hardware. You’ll help define, architect, and deliver cutting-edge systems that will power a new era of high-performance, energy-efficient computing.
The Role
As a Staff IC Design Engineer, you’ll take a technical leadership role in designing complex analogue and mixed-signal systems. You’ll architect high-speed, high-performance subsystems, define block-level requirements, and collaborate closely with internal hardware, digital, and software teams, as well as external silicon design partners.
Your work will directly shape the architecture and performance of next-generation computing hardware — bridging research innovation with real-world delivery.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Define and lead the architecture of analogue and mixed-signal components and subsystems
* Develop block diagrams, specifications, and performance targets for custom analogue IP
* Review and assess designs delivered by external design houses and ASIC partners
* Act as the key technical interface between internal teams and external suppliers
* Contribute to system-level integration, signal integrity, power, and packaging design
* Support bring-up, validation, and debug of early prototypes and hardware systems
* Work cross-functionally with digital, packaging, and software teams to optimise system performance
What You’ll Need
* 8+ years’ experience in analogue/mixed-signal IC design, architecture, or system development
* Strong understanding of analogue and mixed-signal fundamentals — ADC/DACs, PLLs, amplifiers, power management, and signal conditioning
* Experience designing high-speed, high-performance analogue systems (e.g. >1 GSps, GHz-range clocking, high-resolution ADCs)
* Proven ability to define system and block-level architecture and translate performance targets into design specifications
* Experience managing and reviewing external ASIC or silicon partners
* Familiarity with simulation, modelling, and verification tools such as Cadence, SPICE, or MATLAB
* Excellent communication and documentation skills — able to explain design trade-offs and influence technical direction
Nice to Have
* Experience with system integration, board bring-up, or productisation
* Knowledge of mixed-signal verification and high-speed packaging challenges
The Offer
* Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package
* Share options for long-term alignment
* Opportunity to work on breakthrough hardware innovation with real-world impact
