Main Duties
* Provide senior clinical leadership in assessing and managing older adults with complex, multi‑factorial needs.
* Deliver and promote timely, safe and person‑centred care across acute, ambulatory and community pathways.
* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to guide clinical decisions, prioritisation and care planning.
* Contribute to teaching, supervision and development of junior doctors and wider team members.
* Lead or support quality improvement, audit and service development initiatives.
* Model compassionate, inclusive and professional practice that upholds dignity and respect.
* Apply strong communication, teamwork and clinical judgement to enhance safety and patient experience.
* Support effective coordination of care and continuity across services to improve outcomes for older people.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
* Registerable medical qualification
* Full MRCP
* Full Registration with GMC
* Name on GMC Specialist Register on date of appointment
* Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialty Registration (CESR) by GMC, with wide experience in all aspects of geriatric and general internal medicine
* Experience in day‑to‑day organisation of geriatric and/or general medical services in a busy Teaching Hospital
* Familiarity with information technology and general computer skills
* Familiar with current structure of the UK National Health Service and recent initiatives and changes
* Demonstrated leadership capability within multidisciplinary teams
* Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit; must have undertaken and completed audit projects
* Experience of clinical research, with publication of relevant review articles or case reports
* Experience of undergraduate and post‑graduate teaching and exam preparation
Desirable Qualifications
* Other higher degree or diploma (e.g., MD)
* Management course and/or qualification
* Audit publications
* Relevant research experience in one or more aspects of geriatric and/or general medicine
* Teaching skills course or qualification
Other Requirements
* Must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a Licence to Practice; on the Specialist Register, or within six months of attaining CCT or equivalent to be eligible for interview.
* Postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable adults and/or children (0‑18 years); subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service will be required.
