AWE are currently looking for someone to join the team to look after People Projects. This will be on a 12-month fixed term contract.
This role will lead delivery of a variety of People/HR related projects across the business for both new initiatives and business as usual cyclical activities.
Location: Green Park, Reading with free onsite parking.
Package: From £61,040 - £85,000 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)
Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight. This role requires close working with the business stakeholders it is aligned to, whilst there is flexibility around working arrangements including hybrid working, this is agreed on an informal, non-contractual basis (typically 3 days onsite per week.) and must meet the needs of your stakeholders.

As part of this role, you will:
Lead and deliver People projects on time and within budget.
Work collaboratively with the wider People team to ensure understanding of any changes resulting in a smooth roll out across the business
Provide research to project lead and make recommendations on People solutions to business requirements aligned to the People plan
Ensure People initiatives are in line with best practice, legal and regulatory requirements etc. to support the delivery of improvements and build momentum for change, and challenge existing ways of working if they inhibit improvement
Ensure interdependencies and risks to delivery are identified and managed to ensure smooth running of the projects
Build relationships with a variety of stakeholders across the business to ensure PEOPLE are working collaboratively with the business to understand the implication of any changes to the business and build this into the project ensuring line managers have the tools, information and knowledge of any changes
Lead People projects as a dedicated specialist ensuring provision of creative expert advice and guidance
Driving culture of high performance, to ensure that AWE is efficient and effective in management of their employees
Drive implementation of any changes to supporting technologies required to deliver results
Be the expert and escalation point for your area of specialism for PEOPLE teams
Be the expert and key point of the contact for the business ensuring a consistency in messaging around any specific projects
Participate in and manage discussions and negotiations with the Trade Unions (TUs) as required and build the necessary relationships with local TU representatives
Provide expert support to the Heads of PEOPLE and wider PEOPLE teams
Anticipate legal updates, ensure they are interpreted for our business and take action to maintain the service
Represent the organisation, where appropriate, on external forums and working groups
Whilst not to be considered a check list, candidates should be able to demonstrate some of the following:
Strong communication and influencing skills
Internal and external stakeholder management
Excellent planning, organising and problem solving skills
Able to present to a range of employee groups with differing levels of understanding of People Analytical skills -comfortable with the use and interpretation of data from a variety of sources
Experience of having worked with a complex matrixed engineering/manufacturing organisation
Experience of working with sceptical groups and resilient individuals
Experience of working in a company with a recognised Trade Union(s)
Managing multiple senior stakeholders. Working at a professional level in a People Function
CIPD or equivalent Qualification - desirable
You will need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment, be able to manage your own workload using initiative, and have an enthusiasm and flexible approach when delivering PEOPLE Project expertise to our business.
