Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Putney & Roehampton Integrated Recovery Team. We will also consider Band 5’s who have completed their Preceptorship and are looking at transition to a Band 6 role through our Preceptorship Plus programme.
This role sits within our Community Service Line, which includes community-based mental health teams such as Integrated Recovery Hubs, Recovery and Support Teams and Early Intervention services. The teams are expanding with new roles post Transformation, providing an environment in which Occupational Therapists (OTs) can support clients with complex mental health needs to recover and step down from Mental Health Services.
We use the Model of Human Occupation to provide standardised assessments. We have a manualised, evidence-based intervention called GLOW (Graduated Living Outside of the Ward) to provide individualised interventions, and have developed an 8-week group intervention based on Recovery Through Activity to promote recovery goals, focusing on stepping down from services and reconnecting clients with community resources. All community OTs receive basic training in Sensory Profiling to support clients with additional sensory needs.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate closely with the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), particularly with Recovery Support Workers and Employment Specialists, to support clients’ occupational goals.
* Promote occupational therapy within teams and deliver specialist OT input within the community setting.
* Engage with the Involvement Team to involve service users and carers in service development and experiences, and build relationships with wider community organisations (e.g., social prescribers and peer support workers).
* Contribute to a positive, high-quality service and advocate for Occupational Therapy within the Trust.
Qualifications
* Band 6 Occupational Therapist; Band 5s who have completed Preceptorship and are transitioning to Band 6 via Preceptorship Plus.
* Experience in community mental health and working within MDTs is desirable.
* Commitment to training and development (e.g., Sensory Profiling) and to recovery-focused practice.
