TMO Officer
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join the Operations Team and take responsibility for the enforcement and management of parking and moving traffic restrictions across the borough.
As a Traffic Management Officer, you will lead on the maintenance and consolidation of existing Traffic Management Orders and the introduction of new Orders as required for on and off-street parking management and other traffic regulation measures. You will be responsible for the processing, drafting, and delivery of Traffic Management Orders, ensuring the Council complies with all relevant legislation and statutory procedures.
You will also manage and maintain associated moving and stationary traffic orders, road markings, signage, and GIS data, while supporting the effective delivery of parking and traffic schemes across the borough.
About You
You will demonstrate expert working knowledge of the statutory procedures governing the introduction of permanent and experimental Traffic Management Orders and other parking and traffic interventions set out in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Highways Act 1980.
You will have good working knowledge of ICT systems and a sound understanding of GIS and the role of geographic/spatial data in delivering public services, alongside experience using ParkMap or a similar system.
The successful candidate will be comfortable managing several workstreams concurrently relating to parking and traffic schemes at various stages of design, consultation, and implementation.
You will also:
·Provide specialist and general advice to officers, members, external organisations, and the public on all matters relating to Traffic Management Orders and statutory processes.
·Support Design, Implementation, and Asset Management teams with a sound understanding of the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016 and Traffic Signs Manual to ensure best practice is followed.
·Be responsible for researching relevant background information and keeping up to date with legislation and best practice relating to traffic order services.
·Have an interest in innovation and the future of Parking Operations, including awareness of government digital strategies relating to parking and transport.
·Be willing to build upon your existing knowledge and support projects aimed at streamlining and improving service delivery.
