We are working with a top 30 accountancy practice seeking an experienced Bookkeeper for a part-time role near Ely. This position is ideal for someone looking to gain large company experience while working on a flexible schedule.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Maintaining client books and records, producing accounts up to trial balance.
2. Demonstrating commercial awareness and monitoring assignment budgets and recovery.
3. Handling client queries confidently, discussing issues, and suggesting solutions while managing more complex queries with initiative.
4. Referring complex queries to the supervisor and proposing appropriate actions.
5. Preparing VAT returns and assisting junior team members with their returns.
6. Adhering to compliance procedures, following instructions, and maintaining clear documentation.
7. Working independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating self-motivation.
8. Managing a varied workload flexibly and efficiently.
9. Scoping assignments and identifying delegation opportunities.
10. Training new trainees on relevant software and basic tasks.
11. Keeping the team leader informed of progress and issues.
12. Seeking support for complex queries and additional learning opportunities.
13. Expressing interest in client business factors and suggesting improvements.
14. Representing the team professionally when dealing with clients and colleagues.
Minimum requirements:
1. Being AAT part or fully qualified, or qualified by experience.
2. Good telephone, email communication, and customer service skills.
3. Excellent IT skills; knowledge of cloud-based accounting software is advantageous.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
5. Understanding of Smart Working practices (see website for details).
