Mitie – Technical Services Division
Reporting to: Chief Legal Officer
Mitie is seeking an accomplished Divisional Commercial Director to guide the commercial direction of our Technical Services division. This influential role sits at the centre of the division's leadership team, supporting the development of commercial strategy, strengthening governance, and enabling sustainable long‑term growth. Working alongside the Technical Services Managing Director, you will help navigate ongoing transformation while ensuring commercial quality is integral to decision‑making.

The Opportunity
In this role, you will shape and deliver the division's commercial strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and the evolving market. You will bring clarity and structure to our commercial approach, grounding decisions in sound financial analysis, consistent governance, and an understanding of customer needs and value. Your ability to build trust and collaborate with senior colleagues will be important as you help strengthen commercial capability across the organisation.
You will also influence how the commercial function works alongside operations, finance, sales, and legal teams. By promoting consistency, transparency and long‑term value, you will make a meaningful contribution to the division's ongoing success.
Key Areas of Focus
Commercial Strategy & Growth
1. Shape and deliver the commercial strategy for the Technical Services division.
2. Assess markets, explore opportunities and design commercially sustainable models.
3. Support improved commercial processes and decision‑making.
Contract & Risk Management
4. Oversee negotiation, review and management of client and supplier contracts.
5. Ensure contracts are compliant, commercially sound and deliverable.
6. Manage commercial risks, variations, disputes and renewals effectively.
Financial Leadership
7. Support improvements in margin, cost control and overall financial performance.
8. Lead accurate budgeting, forecasting and commercial reporting.
9. Provide clear commercial insight to enable informed decision‑making.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
10. Act as a key commercial partner to the Technical Services Managing Director and senior leadership team.
11. Build constructive relationships with clients, suppliers and internal teams.
12. Ensure commercial considerations are embedded in operational practice.
Leadership & Commercial Capability
13. Coach colleagues to build commercial skills and confidence.
14. Encourage a culture of accountability, collaboration and learning.
15. Champion commercial maturity across the division.
Business Development & Bidding
16. Guide the development of bids, proposals and commercial submissions.
17. Evaluate opportunities for alignment and commercial viability.
18. Support pricing, value propositions and deal shaping for new and existing work.
About You
You will be an experienced commercial professional with strong experience gained within facilities management or another complex, multi‑service environment. You will bring sound knowledge of contract law, commercial governance and financial analysis, alongside the ability to work effectively with senior leaders and across operational teams.
Your strengths will include strategic thinking, the ability to simplify complexity and a collaborative style that encourages confidence and alignment. You will be proactive, adaptable and comfortable working at pace, offering the commercial insight needed to support the division through change.
