Overview
We are seeking an experienced Estimator with specialist knowledge of the UK ironmongery market to join our friendly and professional team. This role involves preparing accurate and competitive estimates for bespoke door and window schedules, liaising with architects, designers, main and sub-contractors, and ensuring all specifications meet current UK building regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for door ironmongery projects.
* Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
* Produce detailed door schedules, specifying suitable products on a door-by-door basis.
* Liaise directly with architects, interior designers, contractors, and suppliers to clarify requirements.
* Ensure compliance with relevant UK building regulations, fire safety, security, and accessibility standards.
* Manage workload effectively to meet tender deadlines.
* Attend occasional site visits and client meetings (expenses covered).
* Collaborate closely with the Estimating Director and wider team to support project delivery.
Key Requirements
* Strong understanding of the UK ironmongery market.
* Knowledge of leading manufacturers and suppliers within the sector.
* Experience with doors, doorsets, and windows.
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
* Ability to interpret and work from construction drawings.
* Experience liaising with architects, interior designers, and contractors.
* Up-to-date working knowledge of UK building regulations and standards.
* Diploma from the Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (desirable).
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Organised, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
* Self-motivated and able to work independently within a team environment.
* Negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
