Consultant Family & Systemic Psychotherapist

We have an exciting opportunity for an innovative and experienced Family & Systemic Psychotherapist to join Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust at consultant level as Professional Lead for Family & Systemic Psychotherapy within Child and Young People's Mental Health Services (CYPMHS). This senior leadership role will provide strategic, clinical and professional leadership for Family & Systemic Psychotherapy across the Trust. The postholder will play a key role in shaping and developing systemic practice and the wider psychological therapies offer within CYPMHS. The role is Trust-wide and includes a clinical component, with a dedicated clinical day based within the Frimley Community Hub, working as part of an established, highly supportive and friendly multidisciplinary team.


Main duties of the job

* Working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary colleagues, service leads and the Associate Director of Therapies to develop and continuously review the strategy for the delivery of a full range of systemic services and the development of systemic mindedness across all services.
* To lead and/or contribute to service improvements, change programmes and business developments as required.
* To plan and deliver expert clinical interventions, consultation and training.


Job responsibilities

* To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of clinical work and care, maintaining high standards of care in accordance with the UKCP and AFSP Code of Conduct, professional guidelines and Trust Policies and Procedures, and to act within the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act (2005). To be aware of and implement Safeguarding Adult and Child Protection Policies, Procedures and legislation.
* Work in collaboration with senior colleagues to lead on Trust-wide projects and development initiatives that support the organisation's strategic direction and enhance service delivery. Play a key role in identifying and developing opportunities for psychology to contribute to the Trust delivering its clinical strategy and ICU plans.
* Be responsible within an agreed service area for providing leadership, strategic oversight and continual development for the delivery of highly specialist systemic psychotherapy services to people who use services, and provide expert clinical assessments, formulation and treatment.
* Ensure that the healthcare needs of people coming under the care of the service are communicated to service commissioners and providers.
* Act as supervisor/teacher in teaching, facilitating and supporting pre-registration students and junior personnel and participate in the audit of educational placements. Participate in new staff induction.
* Research national best practice and ensure practice against nationally recognised standards.
* Take a lead role in identifying and managing clinical audit and research opportunities within the service, maintaining current knowledge of research findings and development within the relevant area of service.
* Develop, implement and monitor interventions driven by government initiatives.
* Influence and develop team cultures that support and encourage innovation, creativity, partnership working and curiosity.
* Conduct systemic assessments and use the information to contribute to formulations and packages of care.
* Be part of the divisions on-call manager rota.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* Masters or Doctorate in Family & Systemic Psychotherapy.
* Registration with UKCP.
* Completion of an appropriate clinical supervision course.
* Additional academic clinical qualification relevant to child and adolescent mental health.


Experience

* Extensive post qualification experience in child and adolescent mental health.
* Extensive experience of leading in clinical practice, service development or project work and contributing to strategic initiatives.
* Extensive experience of implementing change following audit and service evaluation.
* Demonstrable experience of developing complex formulations drawing on multiple systemic models.
* Experience of advising senior managers on complex systemic issues and risk.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

£81,774 to £93,879 a year inclusive 5% Fringe HCAs, pa, pro rata.
