We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Operations Director - Care to oversee and manage the operational performance, quality, and strategic growth of our care services. This critical leadership role requires a passionate individual with a proven track record in the care sector, strong business acumen, and an unwavering commitment to delivering outstanding person‑centred care. The Director will ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, optimise operational efficiencies, and lead a culture of continuous improvement across all care locations/services.
Strategic Leadership & Operations
 * Develop and implement the operational strategy for care services, aligning with the organisation's mission and long‑term goals.
 * Oversee the day‑to‑day operations of all care facilities/services to ensure efficiency, high occupancy/service utilisation, and effective resource management.
 * Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to care quality, financial performance, regulatory compliance, and resident/service user satisfaction.
 * Lead and manage senior operational teams, providing clear direction, support, and accountability.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
 * Ensure all services meet or exceed regulatory requirements (e.g., CQC, Care Inspectorate, etc.) and internal quality standards.
 * Develop, implement, and monitor robust quality assurance processes, clinical governance, and risk management frameworks.
 * Lead the preparation and response to regulatory inspections, aiming for the highest possible ratings.
 * Champion a culture of safety, clinical excellence, and dignity in care.
 * Manage operational budgets, control expenditure, and drive revenue generation in collaboration with the finance department.
 * Identify opportunities for strategic growth, expansion, and service development to meet community needs and organisational objectives.
 * Analyse financial data and operational metrics to make informed decisions that improve profitability and sustainability.
People Management & Culture
 * Foster a positive, inclusive, and highly motivated work environment.
 * Oversee workforce planning, recruitment, retention, training, and professional development for care staff and management.
 * Ensure effective performance management and adherence to HR policies and employment law.
Qualifications & Experience
 * Minimum of 5‑7 years of senior operational leadership experience within the health or social care sector (e.g., residential care, domiciliary care, supported living).
 * Demonstrable experience managing multiple sites or services and large teams.
 * In‑depth knowledge of relevant care legislation, quality standards, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., CQC Fundamental Standards).
 * Proven ability to manage significant budgets and drive commercial success.
 * A relevant professional qualification (e.g., Nursing, Social Work, Health/Care Management) or a degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or a related field.
 * Master’s degree in a relevant field.
 * Experience with digital care planning and clinical systems implementation.
 * Exceptional leadership and people management skills.
 * Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
 * Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
 * High degree of commercial awareness and business acumen.
 * Ability to work under pressure and manage complex situations effectively.
