The Cancer Information Development team produces high-quality, award-winning patient information for people affected by cancer.
We are striving to do everything we can to ensure that our workforce is representative of the people we support, and those who support us. We advocate for being an inclusive organisation, where everyone can feel that they belong and where there are no barriers to success.
As an editorial assistant, you will provide editorial, print production and stock management support to the Cancer Information Development team. Working with information development nurses and editors, you will manage and coordinate the external review of our content. You will also project manage the production of information in audio format.
With a range of internal and external stakeholders to work with, including key suppliers, strong communication skills are essential. You must also have the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with medical professionals and people living with cancer, to ensure the timely review of our information.
Success in the role demands excellent organisation, IT and time management skills, to balance a range of ongoing projects to deadline and provide administrative support as required. You will also have excellent attention to detail, allowing you to follow Macmillan’s production processes and help maintain the PIF TICK accreditation for health information.
Part of the assistant role is to support the editors with editing and proofreading information in line with internal guidance. So high standards of English and grammar are important, as well as the ability to deal with complex information about cancer.
