Position: School Receptionist Location: Birmingham Start Date: ASAP Contract Type: Full-Time School Type: Secondary School (Ofsted-rated Good) Be the First Point of Contact for Students, Staff, and Visitors A secondary school in Birmingham is seeking a professional and approachable School Receptionist to join its front office team. With an ASAP start available, this role is suited to someone who can manage a busy reception environment while maintaining a calm and welcoming manner. The receptionist plays a key role in supporting daily communication across the school and ensuring visitors are managed appropriately. Front Office Responsibilities Working on reception requires strong organisational skills and the ability to manage several tasks at once. You will handle enquiries, maintain visitor records, and ensure safeguarding procedures are followed consistently. Core duties include: Greeting visitors and managing sign-in procedures Answering incoming telephone calls and directing enquiries Responding to emails and administrative requests Managing pupil sign-in and sign-out records Supporting attendance and safeguarding processes Handling deliveries and distributing internal messages Maintaining a tidy and professional reception area You will be expected to represent the school positively in all communications. What the Working Day Looks Like The reception area is active throughout the day, particularly during arrival and dismissal times. You will work closely with administrative staff, pastoral teams, and senior leaders to ensure smooth communication across departments.
