Role Details:
Altrad Babcock are currently looking to recruit a Senior Welding Engineer within our Asset Management sector to support the delivery of certified Asset Management services, consultancy, and integrated projects across the global low-carbon energy and infrastructure markets.
Reporting to the Welding Engineering Department Head, the Senior Welding Engineer will provide specialist materials, welding, heat treatment, and NDT advice and procedures to operational sites in the UK and overseas, while maintaining strong client relationships and supporting welding development and internal training activities.
Key Deliverables:
• Provide expert materials, welding, heat treatment, and NDT advice and procedures to operational sites in the UK and overseas.
• Review internal and external welding-related documentation for compliance and technical integrity.
• Support welding development activities across thermal, nuclear, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical sectors.
• Maintain and develop strong client working relationships.
• Build effective working relationships with site personnel and operational teams.
• Support internal training and competency development when required.
• Apply strong technical knowledge of joining technologies and relevant Codes and Legislation.
• Provide technical input to multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
Key Requirements:
• Degree or Diploma qualified in Metallurgy, Welding Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrable experience across Nuclear, Process, Renewables, or Fusion energy markets.
• Preferably working towards, or holding, EWE and/or CEng status.
• Relevant experience of steam raising and process plant environments.
• Strong understanding of materials behaviour and fabrication challenges in demanding service conditions.
• Strong problem-solving capability and technical judgement.
• Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and using own initiative.
• Strong technical knowledge of joining technologies, including current Codes and Legislation.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships.
