Event Content Manager, The Whitehall and Industry Group — Guardian Jobs

Responsibilities

* Event content development
o Lead the content development and planning of your events programme across our themes, including:
o Build compelling agendas
o Craft key event outcomes
o Curate engaging and thoughtful speaker briefings
o Identify and acquire credible, expert speakers
o Identify and draw in relevant audiences
* Conduct research on key policy and economic trends affecting sectors across our membership base, including market and policy trend analysis, collecting feedback from our members via stakeholder interviews and surveys to inform your event programme.
* Lead collaboration across internal teams to develop marketing and communication materials to promote the events programme (landing pages, newsletter segments, promotional campaigns) and own all event programme deliverables within remit.


High-impact delivery

* Take an outcome-based approach to determine the optimal events format, venue and host to drive high-level dialogue among cross-sector leaders.
* Design, develop and deliver event content that generates insightful write-ups and summaries to add tangible value for members and address sector challenges.
* Engage with key industry figures to understand how themes can drive collaboration among members.
* Oversee and liaise with the Event Operations assistant allocated to your event to ensure smooth delivery.


Innovation, continuous improvement and collaboration

* Evaluate and report on content impact and delivery against event outcomes to inform future cycles and increase audience engagement.
* Contribute to programme strategy using evidence-based research to expand the events programme or enhance content strategy.
* Collaborate with Business Development to optimise member outreach and engagement, leveraging CRM to grow speaker and host portfolios.
* Develop and deliver annual paid events, exploring commercial opportunities such as barter agreements, sponsorships or partnerships with members.
* Work with the Head of Content and Events to build a framework for content reports and publications as part of WIGs 5-year strategy.


Qualifications

Desirable not mandatory: Educated to degree level or equivalent experience

* Leadership: Emotional intelligence, coaching and ability to influence stakeholders; comfortable in management roles.


Experience

* 4+ years’ experience in conference or content development, preferably around policy or key business issues.
* Experience managing the full conference production cycle (research, agenda setting, speaker acquisition, event management) across multiple themes (ideally from a major conference organiser).
* Experience working with senior executives, building meaningful relationships on behalf of a brand/organisation.
* Proven ability to develop strategic portfolios or validate new event/content ideas in areas such as international relations, politics, political economy, finance, economics or technology.
* Passion for content development and new content strategies to drive audience engagement and brand value.
* Advanced project management skills in charities, membership/training organisations, public sector or third sector contexts.
* Interest or exposure to policymaking, UK economic development and government relations.
