Position Overview
Clinical Director Medical Specialties – Fixed‑term 12‑month post based at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH), NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
Shift Pattern
40 hours per week over 7 days, with 1:19 non‑resident on‑call duty.
Contract
Fixed‑term, 12 months, starting January 2026 (applicants available to start later may apply).
Responsibilities
* Provide care for inpatients with acute and chronic medical diseases, including on‑call duties and ward rounds.
* Support scheduled care service provision in an outpatient setting aligned with NHS GG&C strategy and the newly formed interface directorate.
* Tailor clinical sessions to MHDU, evening or weekend working as agreed with the successful candidate.
* Collaborate with an established team of General Medicine Consultants; final distribution of responsibilities to be defined post‑appointment.
* Maintain flexibility in session timing, taking into account bank holidays, colleague absence, and ward round scheduling.
Qualifications
* MRCP qualification.
* Full GMC registration and licence to practise.
* Evidence of higher specialist training in General Internal Medicine, or eligibility for CESR, or within 6 months of confirmed entry from interview date.
* Extensive training and experience in general medicine.
