Learning Support AssistantCan you provide the kind of support that helps pupils with autism feel calm, included, and ready to learn? Are you looking for practical primary SEN experience before moving into teaching, educational psychology, or clinical psychology?*** Learning Support Assistant *** September 2026 – July 2027 *** £85 - £105 per day *** ‘Good’ primary school, Selly Oak *** 1:1 and small group support for pupils with AutismThe Role: Support pupils with autism through a mixture of 1:1 work and small-group sessions across the school day. You will help pupils follow routines, access classroom learning, build confidence, and stay engaged, while feeding back clearly to the class teacher and SENCO. SEN teaching assistants support teachers to help children with disabilities and special educational needs, and schools are expected to follow the SEND Code of Practice when identifying needs, putting support in place, and reviewing its impact.The Candidate: You are calm, patient, and able to build trust through consistency and clear communication. You want meaningful school-based experience, you can stay composed in a busy classroom, and you are interested in supporting pupils with additional needs in a way that has a real day-to-day impact. National autism strategy guidance says schools should provide better support so autistic children and young people can reach their potential.Requirements

* Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
* Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
* Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
* Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.
* Career Goals – A desire to pursue a career in educational or clinical psychology.

The School: This ‘Good’ primary school in Selly Oak offers the chance to build valuable SEN experience in a setting where structure, patience, and consistent support matter. You will work closely with teaching staff and the SENCO in a role that gives you direct exposure to day-to-day SEND provision, practical intervention, and the strategies schools use to help pupils with autism access learning more successfully.
