We are seeking a skilled Warranty Test Technician for a role based in an Automotive Engineering company in Birmingham. This role plays a key part in analysing and diagnosing customer warranty returns, identifying root causes, and driving corrective actions to improve product quality and reduce warranty costs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Analyse and test all customer warranty returns to confirm faults and identify liability within acceptance tolerances.
* Conduct root cause analysis and provide corrective feedback to address issues.
* Escalate findings for trend analysis to support warranty cost reduction activities.
* Perform hands-on inspections and diagnostics against OEM specifications.
* Report analysis data in customer-specific formats within agreed timeframes.
* Support internal teams, suppliers, and customers with technical input to maintain and improve quality.
* Communicate fault and liability information to management to drive corrective and preventative actions.
* Ensure lessons learned from warranty analysis are captured for future projects.
* Maintain calibration systems for all equipment.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and special projects.
Essential Skills & Experience:
* GCSE Level A–C, IVQ Technician Certificate, BTec First Certificate, or NVQ Level 2 equivalent.
* Experience using hand tools, measurement equipment, and machinery.
* Ability to interpret results/data for root cause analysis.
* Good understanding of Microsoft Excel and Word.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
* Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Preferred: Knowledge of fuel systems, hydraulics, and electromechanical systems.
