We are recruiting for an experienced individual with a background in procurement or buying, who is interested in progressing to a buyer role. Our client offers support and training for career development.
As the Assistant Buyer, you will be part of a small team, reporting to a Manager, with parking available. The role offers a relaxed office environment and involves the following responsibilities:
1. Manage existing categories and buy specific products based on demand.
2. Review performance indicators such as sales to identify new trends.
3. Plan for additional product opportunities.
4. Manage stock levels and inventory plans.
5. Meet with suppliers to negotiate capacity, pricing, and terms.
6. Maintain and develop supplier relationships, sourcing new routes and opportunities.
7. Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely launches and deliveries.
8. Collaborate with buying colleagues to assess the supply base and define sourcing strategies.
9. Share sales data within the business to maximize opportunities for entry, growth, or retraction.
10. Monitor commodity prices to secure the best pricing, ensuring savings and improved profits.
Occasional visits to stores, trade fairs, and suppliers may be required.
To succeed as an Assistant Buyer, candidates should have:
* Experience in buying or procurement.
* Strong analytical skills.
* Negotiation, networking, and influencing abilities.
* Confident communication and strong team and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently towards team goals.
* Numeracy and IT skills, with proficiency in Excel.
* Good organizational skills and multitasking ability.

* Experience managing sample development and approval.
* Commercial awareness, creativity, and a positive attitude.
