Role: Senior Electrical Design Engineer Location: Southampton Salary: Up to £50,000 Our client is seeking an experienced and technically strong Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead and deliver complex electrical design solutions across a range of engineering projects.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the full project lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through to commissioning and handover, while providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
Responsibilities Lead the electrical design of projects, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, legislation, and client requirements Produce and review detailed electrical design documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts, calculations, and specifications Carry out electrical calculations such as load studies, fault levels, cable sizing, Provide technical guidance, support, and mentoring to junior and graduate engineers Review and approve designs produced by others, ensuring technical accuracy and quality Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues and deliver project requirements Support project planning, cost estimation, and risk assessments Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and safety assessments where required Support commissioning activities and provide technical assistance during installation and testing Identify opportunities for design improvement, standardisation, and innovation Skills and experience: Proven experience in a senior electrical design role within an engineering or industrial environment Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, control systems, and electrical safety Experience producing and checking detailed electrical designs and calculations Proficient with electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, ETAP, Amtech, or simila r Strong understanding of applicable electrical standards and regulations Ability to lead technical discussions and make sound engineering decisions Experience within sectors such as energy, industrial automation, manufacturing, utilities, or infrastructure Experience with PLCs, control panels, or instrumentation design Knowledge of functional safety standards (e.g.
