Overview
We currently have vacancies for Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWP) to work in the Steps 2 Wellbeing Team in rural Dorset, covering the localities of Mid/West Dorset, Weymouth & Portland, North Dorset, and Purbeck/East Dorset. This role offers an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic, highly motivated, and committed team of qualified clinicians and staff in training.
Responsibilities
The role is demanding and rewarding, involving the delivery of psychological interventions to clients with mild to moderate common mental health problems in primary care. Core duties include:
* Completing person‑centred assessments.
* Delivering CBT‑based Guided Self‑Help interventions for individuals with symptoms of mild to moderate depression and/or anxiety disorders, such as Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, and Obsessive‑Compulsive Disorder.
* Working on a hybrid basis: a minimum of two days per week delivering face‑to‑face interventions, with remaining days worked remotely.
* Participating in intensive supervision and workplace support as an integral part of the training program.
Qualifications & Skills
* Enthusiasm and passion for mental health support.
* Strong administrative, time‑management, and communication skills.
* Desirable: experience working within mental health, NHS services, or a similar organisation.
* Applicants requiring sponsorship to work in the UK are not eligible for this position.
Training & Supervision
You will undertake academic training accredited by the University of Exeter. Your year will be split between university study and working within the service. University study is delivered through a hybrid model, combining online learning with scheduled face‑to‑face teaching days.
All Trainee PWPs will receive intensive supervision and workplace support as an integral part of their training.
