Salary: BG6, N6 - N7 £25,989 - £26,403 Actual Salary: £3,754 - £3,814 Contract: Permanent / 6.25 total weekly hours - 75 minutes Monday to Friday, term-time only Closing date: Thursday 19 February 2026 Interview date: Friday 27 February 2026 Purpose: The play coordinator will support and facilitate meaningful and productive child-initiated play during the school day. In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day management of lunchtime, where you will oversee the management and delivery of our inclusive play offer. You will be leading the playworkers in the delivery of a well-planned and exciting play offer, while working with the curriculum lead for play and other senior leaders to ensure a high-quality service. Duties (further details in the attached application pack): Monitor pupils in all school areas during lunch to ensure safety, welfare and adherence to school conduct policies. Line manage School Meal Supervisory Assistants and collaborate with the Play Curriculum Lead and Senior Leadership Team. Maintain proper behaviour through direct intervention, referral to senior staff or specific play-work strategies for pupils with behavioural challenges. Identify unauthorised visitors and complete all necessary documentation regarding incidents, reviews or medical meetings. Administer minor first aid, manage known medical conditions and officially record major accidents or head injuries. Oversee the storage, quality and maintenance of play equipment to ensure all items are safe for use. Plan and implement a rich variety of play opportunities and peer-led activities in consultation with staff and the school council. Foster play-worker expertise within the team and use self-evaluation to continually improve play delivery.
