Job Summary
The SailGP Technologies team is seeking a dynamic and motivated Composite Laminating Technician to work within the Clean Room. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a high performance team working between our new facility in Southampton, and attending multiple global events to support the Technical Team. As a Level 3 composite laminating technician you will have knowledge and experience in all aspects of composite laminating and strive to work to the highest standards possible whilst working to time critical targets.
Key Accountabilities and duties
* Read and understand production drawings and follow part specifications precisely.
* Laminate carbon fibre structural components with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Extensive practical knowledge in all areas of composite laminating including mould prep / mould maintenance and repair, sealing and releasing moulds.
* Laminating to a high standard in prepreg, wet lay‑up (optional), secondary bonding and core bonding.
* Skilled use of hand and power tools and confident use of table saw, band saw, chop saw, sanding wheels and other large equipment.
* Confident to work independently and prioritise duties with minimal supervision, in order to meet deadlines.
* Ensure components and tooling are handled with care to prevent any form of damage.
* Prepare mould tools including set up, release coats / release films.
* Provide advice and guidance within the role’s area of expertise.
* Maintain a safe, clean and tidy working environment at all times.
* Proficient in vacuum bagging and using peel ply, release films, breather and mesh.
* Strong quality control and attention to detail.
