Bookkeeper – Accountancy Practice
Location: Harrogate (Office-based)
Hours: Full-time or Part-time (flexible for the right candidate)
Salary: £25,000 – £35,000 FTE (depending on experience)
We are working with a well-established and friendly accountancy practice based in Harrogate, currently looking to appoint an experienced Bookkeeper to join their team.
This role offers the chance to work with a varied portfolio of clients across different sectors. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a practice environment, be confident handling multiple client accounts, and enjoy working in a close-knit, collaborative team.
The firm offers a professional yet relaxed working environment, with flexi-time, a predominantly office-based role, and flexibility around hours to suit the right individual.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Managing bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients
2. Processing sales and purchase invoices
3. Bank reconciliations
4. Preparing and submitting VAT returns
5. Managing and maintaining accurate client records
6. Working with cloud-based software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, Dext, and Hubdoc
7. Liaising directly with clients to gather and clarify information
8. Supporting colleagues on other ad hoc projects as needed
What We’re Looking For:
9. Experience working in an accountancy practice is highly desirable
10. Ability to manage multiple client accounts confidently and efficiently
11. Proficiency with Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, and ideally Dext/Hubdoc
12. Strong attention to detail and time management
13. A proactive, can-do attitude with the ability to work independently
14. A team player who is happy to support colleagues when required
15. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
