Mechanical Maintenance Technician (Product Support Engineer) - RailLocation: Stoke Gifford (Depot Based), BristolContract Type: PermanentWorking Hours: Full-time, Monday to FridayThe RoleAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join a depot-based engineering team in Bristol. Reporting to the Site Team Leader or Site Supervisor, you will be responsible for carrying out and supporting routine maintenance, fault finding and repairs on rail power products, ensuring all work is completed in line with approved manuals and contractual requirements.This role suits a mechanically biased engineer with a strong focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement, and an interest in working with modern, digitally enabled maintenance systems.Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out preventative, scheduled and corrective maintenance activities in line with maintenance plans and technical manualsPerform planned maintenance tasks in accordance with operating instructionsDiagnose faults and complete repairs using technical drawings and fault-finding guidesAccurately complete all documentation relating to work carried out for both internal and customer recordsActively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including suggesting process and maintenance improvementsAttend customer meetings where required to support sign-off of completed workProactively engage with health, safety, quality and environmental (HSQE) processesMaintain cleanliness and organisation of on-site depot facilitiesAttend local and factory-based training courses to ensure skills remain currentCover work at other depots when business needs requireAccurately report parts usage in line with internal stock control processesUse IT systems effectively, including maintenance, diagnostics and reporting toolsCandidate ProfileEngineering background with a mechanical bias (electrical knowledge beneficial)NVQ Level 2 in Engineering or equivalent (Level 3 desirable)Proven experience in maintenance, repair and overhaul environmentsExperience with diesel engines preferred; candidates from the following backgrounds are also encouraged to apply: Automotive maintenance (particularly engine or powertrain focused)Aircraft maintenanceStrong fault-finding and diagnostic capabilityOutstanding safety awarenessCompetent in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, email)(Training will be provided for specialist systems and tools)Personal AttributesProactive approach with strong initiativeWell-organised with a flexible and adaptable attitudeAble to work effectively as part of a teamCommitted to continuous improvement and high engineering standardsOur CommitmentWe are committed to providing a respectful, inclusive and non-discriminatory workplace.
