We’re recruiting a fixed‑term role, up to 2 years, for someone with experience of working in or regulating energy sectors, including combustion plants, waste incineration and refineries.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert support and technical leadership through advice, guidance and training.
* Develop strategy for energy sectors and produce tools to regulate, support development and deliver environmental outcomes.
* Commission and manage external research projects where needed.
* Work with internal and external stakeholders such as Defra, DESNZ, internal operations teams, trade associations and other key industry players.
* Respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.
Team
* Energy & COMAH team part of Energy and Manufacturing Industries Regulation of Environment & Business (E&B) Directorate.
* Provide strategic direction and tools supporting regulation of the energy sectors.
* Deliver guidance and training to fulfil new duties.
* Promote environmental best practice.
Experience / Skills Required
* Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures and actively encourage others to consider diversity issues in their work.
* Relevant technical and regulatory knowledge of the energy sector, including control measures for emissions to air where relevant.
* Ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, operators, partner regulators, government, trade bodies and academia.
* Work cooperatively as part of a team to achieve common goals.
