Job Location - Samlesbury Wastewater Treatment Works, Cuerdale Lane, Samlesbury, Nr Preston, Lancs, PR5 0UY

Working Hours - 37.5 Hours per Week

Job Purpose

In this role, you will play a key part in minimising risk and enhancing our service delivery and regulatory standards, ensuring the continuous supply of high-quality water in a safe, efficient, and optimised manner. You will provide analytical expertise by leveraging data and collaborating with colleagues to improve the performance of the water network. Your guidance will support both operational staff and management in making informed decisions about network interventions and best operating practices. Additionally, you will act as an engineering expert, advising local teams to facilitate swift issue resolution and promote capital works initiatives.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* Identify opportunities to optimise the local water network through detailed analysis and the DOMS process, ensuring service standards, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency.
* Support Water Quality, Public Health, and Network Performance teams by addressing risks, resolving queries, and ensuring timely delivery of assigned actions.
* Apply and maintain hydraulic models at the DMZ level to support planned works, incident response, and proactive network optimisation.
* Provide engineering advice and technical support to internal teams, contractors, and Developer Services, ensuring effective resolution of complex issues and promotion of maintenance projects.
* Liaise with stakeholders to maintain accurate network schematics, support investigations, and contribute to the development of capital maintenance schemes.
Technical Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role you’ll need to have the confidence and ability to propose and/or make decisions affecting the operation and performance of the network assets.

You’ll have extensive and relevant water network experience or have demonstrated technical expertise in another area of the business. You’ll also have:

* Knowledge of the regulatory framework in which the business operates to maintain compliance.
* Understanding of asset management techniques, capital investment and finance, policies and procedures.
* Ability to identify, develop and drive through solutions to a wide range of technical and analytical problems.
* Understanding and working knowledge of hydraulic modelling.

Additional Information
* You will closely align, geographically and operationally, with a Technical Support Officer.
* The role is based in Lancashire County and will predominantly cover the Burnley and Hyndburn DMZs.

You will be expected to attend work as required to respond to emergency situations, in line with a locally agreed rostered arrangement.
