We are looking for accessible, responsive, highly motivated and dynamic nurses with excellent organisational skills to join the Skin Cancer Multidisciplinary Team across three hospital sites and the community. This role can be considered a fixed‑term contract or a secondment; internal candidates will have to obtain approval from their current line manager.
Successful applicants must provide an immunisation and vaccination report from their occupational health provider or GP.
Responsibilities
* Provide high‑quality care to new and follow‑up patients diagnosed with skin cancer, supporting surgical, oncology and palliative treatments.
* Work alongside nursing and medical teams in clinics and manage and develop nurse‑led clinics.
* Actively participate with all aspects of the multidisciplinary team, adapting services and supporting service development.
* Support the Advanced Nurse Practitioner and the Macmillan Skin Cancer Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist to ensure service is world‑class.
* Serve as an effective key worker for patients and families, providing advice, support and signposting.
* Develop nurse‑led clinics in parallel with multidisciplinary team members.
* Ensure patients’ holistic needs are considered in decision‑making using appropriate tools and skills.
* Utilise highly developed communication skills to maintain high quality service and resolve unexpected events.
* Attend weekly multidisciplinary team meetings as a key worker.
* Assist in the training provision for identified staff groups within defined areas.
* Support patients, carers and staff during difficult situations (e.g., breaking bad news, handling unexpected events).
* Attend the relevant chemotherapy training course to be deemed competent to support and educate oncology patients.
Core duties
* Clinical responsibility and acting as a key worker for skin cancer patients and their families.
* Monitoring and providing care within Dermatology, plastic surgery and Oncology specialties.
* Providing education to staff and patients; participating in audit and research to improve knowledge.
Additional Information
The role will cover various main duties related to clinical responsibility and support for skin cancer patients. This position is open to both internal and external applicants. Interviews are planned for 29 April 2026. The advertisement closes on Tuesday 28 April 2026.
