World Leader in Glucose Monitoring, Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures glucose monitoring systems for use in both home and hospital settings. We have a Centre of Excellence in Witney for the development and manufacture of electrodes and biosensors used by patients and healthcare professionals for the day‑to‑day management of diabetes. The site has been instrumental in the research, development and manufacture of the FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System as well as exciting developments in the Libre family including FreeStyle Libre 2, FreeStyle Libre 3 and the Libre Sense system. We are passionate about doing work that improves the quality of people’s lives.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Scientist to join our R&D team to provide scientific expertise across the ADC product range and for technical collaboration with Engineering, Regulatory, Commercial, Quality, Clinical Affairs and Research & Development organisations worldwide.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Lead a small technical team in new product development and transfer.
* Execute on‑market product improvement programmes.
* Support wide‑ranging investigative activities.
* Involve in development projects ranging from small to large‑volume manufacturing across laboratory and production environments.
* Drive early‑stage feasibility projects and develop a portfolio of new technologies for Abbott to explore.
* Support continued execution of innovation and progress in the development of sensor technology.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Proactive individual able to manage multiple interrelated activities with varying priorities in a fast‑paced, changing environment.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Prior technical management experience preferred.
* Experience collaborating with multiple internal cross‑functional groups and external contacts, including industry technology leaders.
* Degree qualified, preferably with a Chemistry bias.
* Experience in medical device development and transfer and/or polymer science preferred.
