Supervised Contact worker
This post will be based within our Supervised Contact Service which provides a safe environment for children to have supervised contact with their parents and other family members. Promoting contact for children at risk who are undergoing assessment within a statutory team and children looked after. As per Section 34, of the Children Act 1989 places a duty on local authorities to promote contact between any children looked after and their parents, relatives and friends, where this is consistent with the child’s welfare and safety.

About the role
The role is to provide a high-quality, focused, and safe contact service for children and their families/carers. The core purpose is to pursue the best possible outcomes for children and young people concerning contact arrangements and life story work, with a crucial focus on safeguarding and promoting welfare while considering the young person’s race, culture, religion, and linguistic background. The day to day duties of this role will include:
2. Set up and provide supervised contact, maintaining detailed records of interactions, child protection concerns, and health and safety issues (contact notes).
3. Ensure firm and consistent boundaries are set and maintained and conduct risk assessments for challenging contact situations.
4. Intervene and suspend contact if the terms and conditions of the contact agreement are breached.
5. Promote, encourage, and enable parents in practicing safe and effective parenting skills and support families in maintaining or developing the quality of their contact.
6. Prepare and present reports and records as required and represent the Contact Service view regarding observations of the child and family.

About you
7. Proven and well-developed skills of working in partnership with parents and carers delivering parenting interventions through group work and individual sessions.
8. Experience and knowledge in contact, attachment, and strength-based parenting and accurate record-keeping in a supervised contact context.
9. Demonstrable skills in managing priorities, prioritising your workload and working under pressure, displaying initiative and creativity to meet agreed deadlines.
10. Sound knowledge of good practice in safeguarding, child protection and ethical practice in relation to working with families.
11. Well established verbal and written communication skills, a high standard of ICT literacy and experience of keeping and maintaining records and case record management systems.
12. Experienced in undertaking written or dynamic risk assessments, adhering to health and safety and making decisions related to risk to ensure the safety and wellbeing of young people, parents and workers.
