Overview
The Welding Specialist is responsible for performing, supervising, and ensuring high-quality welding and fabrication activities in accordance with project specifications, engineering drawings, safety standards, and applicable industry codes.
Responsibilities
* Perform welding activities using approved welding procedures.
* Execute various welding processes including SMAW, GTAW/TIG, GMAW/MIG, FCAW, SAW (where applicable).
* Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and alloy materials as required.
* Prepare and fit materials prior to welding.
* Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
* Fabricate and assemble structural or piping components.
* Perform cutting, grinding, beveling, and finishing operations.
* Ensure dimensional accuracy and alignment of fabricated parts.
* Verify weld quality in accordance with applicable standards and specifications.
* Conduct visual inspections before, during, and after welding.
* Coordinate or assist with NDT inspections such as UT, RT, MT, and PT.
* Ensure compliance with approved WPS and PQR documentation.
* Follow all site safety regulations and permit-to-work systems.
* Ensure proper use of PPE and welding safety equipment.
* Maintain fire prevention and hot-work safety measures.
* Identify and report workplace hazards.
* Operate and maintain welding machines and related tools.
* Inspect equipment before use and report defects.
* Ensure proper storage and handling of welding consumables and gases.
* Maintain welding logs and production records.
* Record weld traceability information and material heat numbers.
* Submit inspection reports and daily progress updates.
* Assist in preparing turnover and completion documentation.
* Deliverables: completed welds meeting project specifications, inspection and quality records, welding activity reports, material traceability documentation, safety compliance records.
Qualifications
* 10+ years of experience in oil and gas industry.
* Minimum 6 years of experience as Welding and NDT Inspector.
* CSWIP and/or ISO 9712 Level II (MT-RT-UT) certification or equivalent.
* Welding and NDT knowledge, with familiarity of QA/QC Welding Management Systems.
* Good knowledge of MS Office packages.
* Basic knowledge of metallurgy, welding engineering principles, and inspection/certification requirements (PED, etc.).
* Basic knowledge of radioprotection principles.
