Hours worked from 7am-8pm will be paid at the basic rate plus 1/3 of the hourly rate. Sleep-in payments are paid at the National Living Wage rate. The role offers 32 paid annual leave days per year, increasing to 37 days after 5 years of service.

As a Care Assistant within Adult Services Resources, you will be part of a key team supporting individuals with long-term health conditions to take control of their lives and achieve their full potential in mainstream society.

You will promote social inclusion and provide opportunities for people with disabilities in various community settings. Support will involve helping service users develop social and independent living skills in a person-centred way that promotes social inclusion.

Your duties may include assisting with daily life skills, personal care, housework, shopping, cooking, attending appointments, administering medication, and maintaining records in support plans.

You will support maintaining regular contact with family and friends, social activities, education, work opportunities, and holidays.

By working as a Care Assistant for Fife Council, you will earn a competitive salary and access a range of benefits, including:

The Person

You must have or be willing to achieve the Social Services and Healthcare SCQF level 6 (equivalent to SVQ2) or similar to meet Scottish Social Services Council registration requirements within the first registration period.

Duties include all aspects of personal care and the ability to undertake moving and handling tasks, including pushing and pulling wheelchairs.

Flexibility is required in working hours to meet the needs of service users.

The role involves working on an as-needed basis, including days, evenings, weekends, sleep-ins, and nights, including public holidays and festive periods. You will promote social inclusion by working to maximize individuals' independence, health, and wellbeing.

Good communication, organizational, workload management, team working, literacy, and IT skills are essential. The role involves working both as part of a team and independently.

Before confirming your appointment, you will need to obtain PVG scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and join the relevant scheme.

As the role requires SSSC registration, you will have three months to apply for registration after starting. It is advisable to begin your application as soon as possible to ensure registration within six months. More details are available in the role profile.
