We are home to some of the country’s foremost artistic institutions, most vibrant communities, and iconic architecture. Our ability to develop, transform and renew the borough landscape helps to drive local growth.
These are exciting times for the Council with many developments taking place along the River Thames, at the Council estates at Elephant and Castle, at the former Surrey Docks at Canada Water, and through to Peckham and Camberwell. To help support the delivery of these projects we are recruiting a number of key roles in finance.
The Assistant Finance Director (Housing) will provide exceptional financial leadership and deliver transformative impact of one of our most critical services, the Housing Revenue Account (HRA). The Council has one of the largest social housing stocks in the Country and has an important voice nationally, including leading on the Council Housing 100 campaign, so the Assistant Director will have the chance to have a real impact.
The role will build and maintain strategic relationships across the service and with senior leaders and Members, advising on strategic finance and planning, ensuring success in the council’s business planning processes and capital programmes. They will lead a team and drive through a culture of continuous improvement, value adding service and ensuring best value.
Previous experience of Housing is essential and ideally an in-depth knowledge of HRA.
Southwark Council offer a hybrid working environment with the expectation that people are in the office 50% of the time.
We are proud to have a workforce that reflects the diversity of our borough.
As part of our commitment to inclusion, we offer guaranteed interviews for specific groups of people. If you consider yourself to be disabled or if you have a long-term health condition.
The supported statement should cover why you are interested in the role alongside specific examples highlighting your relevant experience.
