Experience required…
Essential:
6. Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
7. Chartered MechEng and/or 10 years or more experience
8. Working knowledge of Sewers for Adoption / OFWAT Design and Construction Guide.
9. Ability to undertake rising main and pumping station calculations.
10. Experience of undertaking design & delivery of projects within the water industry or similar industries.
11. Knowledge in the design and selection of mechanical equipment, such as mechanical pumps, air blowers, chemical dosing plant and infrastructure, screening equipment, walkways and access.
12. Ability to undertake sump and pipework design across a variety of pump installations.
13. Experience of commissioning complex pumping systems, and a working knowledge of WIMES specifications and pumping system control philosophies.
14. An in depth understanding of current UK design standards and working practices.
15. Experience adhering to CDM 2015 legislation and Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmosphere Regulations (DSEAR) and ATEX compliancy.
16. An understanding of the designer’s responsibilities under the CDM regulations
17. Sound understanding of H&S risks associated with water and/or sewerage operation and construction
18. Strong communication skills to interact with colleagues, other engineering disciplines and clients
19. Capable of working independently leading projects, teams and staff.
20. Working alongside the Project Managers and Engineering Design team to deliver complex and non-complex projects across the frameworks
21. Completing reference designs, detailed designs and preparing reports.
22. Producing Technical specifications and proposals for various projects
23. Working alongside and mentoring other members of the design team.
Desirable:
24. Previous Water Company Experience.
25. Knowledge of S185 (diversions) and S98 (requisition) of the Water Industries Act.
