Job Overview
The Children's Neurodevelopmental Service is a 0‑18 service working across Gwynedd and Anglesey local authorities. It offers comprehensive neurodevelopmental assessments, medication, and support to children and young people diagnosed with ADHD, ASD and related conditions.
Applicants should be registered professionals such as a nurse, social worker, clinical psychologist, occupational therapist or speech and language therapist with a valid registration from an appropriate professional body and experience working with children and families affected by neurodevelopmental conditions. Full training and supervision will be provided to familiarise the successful applicant with assessment tools and processes used within the service.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and English speakers are equally welcomed.
Main duties of the job
* Complete neurodevelopmental assessments for children and young people as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
* Contribute to internal assessment meetings and support service delivery improvement.
* Provide support, advice and guidance to parents and carers of children with neurodevelopmental conditions.
* Offer clinical and managerial support to junior colleagues.
* Undertake awareness‑raising and training for external agencies and internal services where required.

Qualifications / Knowledge
Essential criteria
* NMC Registered Nurse or equivalent professional (S<, OT, Social Worker) with post‑registration experience with children with neurodevelopmental difficulties.
* Postgraduate diploma (or equivalent level of study) in a relevant area.
Desirable criteria
* Additional formal training within the area of children’s neurodevelopmental conditions.
* Knowledge of an area common to learning disability services (e.g. epilepsy, PMLD, Applied Behavioural Analysis principles).
Experience
Essential criteria
* Significant post‑registration experience in a relevant role.
* Management and support of more junior staff.
Desirable criteria
* Experience working with children with neurodevelopmental conditions and their carers/families.
* Welsh speaking.
Aptitude & Abilities
Essential criteria
* Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of neurodevelopmental conditions and associated difficulties.
* Understanding of associated health needs such as epilepsy, autism and other syndromes.
* Knowledge of behavioural theory and its application.
* Understanding of child development and child protection procedures.
* Knowledge of clinically effective intervention literature and research.
* Sound understanding of clinical governance, audit, research and development.
* Ability to work autonomously and make clinical decisions within competence.
* Effective communication across cultures and abilities.
* Collaboration with a range of professionals.
* Alignment with organisational values and commitment to enable others to do the same.
