Overview
We have an exciting opportunity to join our ENT team. We are looking to recruit a full‑time Consultant ENT Surgeon specialising in laryngology, Voice and Benign Head & Neck Surgery.
Department
The ENT department is an active and busy sub‑regional ENT Centre providing ENT services for Peterborough, Huntingdon, wider Cambridgeshire, South Lincolnshire, East Leicestershire and parts of Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire.
During 2023/24 a total of 20,534 outpatient attendances were recorded, 2,045 elective operations performed, and the department dealt with over 898 emergency episodes.
All consultation rooms are fully equipped with state‑of‑the‑art facilities. Each room has its own microscope, Storz Telepack 2 system, flexible laryngoscopes, rigid endoscopes, suction, digital recording, and air purifying facilities. The audiology department has three walk‑in booths including a large modern paediatric booth, and caloric testing equipment. The adult ENT ward has a fully equipped treatment room with operating microscope and flexible laryngoscope for initial emergency patient care.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide a high standard of care to patients for whom you have clinical responsibility, including those referred to you, cared for by you personally or by members of your team, and colleagues when covering for annual leave.
* Participate in clinical and other service activities and developments to ensure a high standard of patient care across the Trust.
* Work in close cooperation with other medical, professional, and managerial colleagues to provide high‑quality health care and contribute to the Trust’s strategic direction.
* Participate fully and share leadership of Clinical Governance of the specialty, attending half‑days as detailed in the Trust’s Guide to Job Planning unless on agreed leave or attending emergencies.
* Participate in departmental audits, coordinate audit activities within the department, and implement change.
* Engage in research projects within and outside the trust, encouraging projects among department members.
* Take responsibility for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, training, and supervision.
* Participate in 1:9 on‑call emergency rota.
