Position: Tax Review Specialist
Type: Independent Contractor
Compensation: $50–$60/hour
Location: Remote
Commitment: Flexible hours
Role Responsibilities
* Review various U.S. federal and state tax returns and related forms/schedules.
* Extract concise insights such as filing status, income sources, and deductions/credits.
* Create verification checklists and follow-up questions to confirm accuracy.
* Flag anomalies and edge cases like multi-state moves and amended filings.
* Analyze tax returns to document key findings and verify facts.
* Work independently and asynchronously to meet project demands.
Qualifications
Must-Have
* CPA or EA, and 4+ years of experience in U.S. individual/business tax preparation.
* Strong knowledge of Form 1040 ecosystems and state equivalents.
* Excellent written communication skills.
* Detail-oriented with sound judgment on materiality and data quality.
* Comfortable working with provided materials and following confidentiality guidelines.

* Start after a brief calibration/pilot to align on style, depth, and formatting.
