The Library and Information Assistant (LIA) role is challenging and varied. LIAs are responsible for providing frontline services to customers, local residents, and visitors at libraries across Swindon. LIAs help customers and residents access physical and online information. LIAs support customers and residents in their use of IT and encourage reading and lifelong learning.
LIAs deliver children's activities such as story times and class visits, support other library promotional events, and assist volunteers and volunteer activities.
Successful candidates will need excellent communication and IT skills, along with good literacy and numeracy. An awareness of library services and an interest in books and lifelong learning is desirable.
You must be fluent in English (as required by Part 7 of the Immigration Act for customer-facing roles). We welcome applicants who meet most of the criteria, as individual experience, skills, and passion are highly valued.
Working hours are:
* Thursday 10:00-14:00 at Central Library
* Friday 10:00-14:00 at Central Library
