Overview
Contract: Permanent. Salary: Paying up to £45,000 depending on your level of experience, plus standby rota payments and overtime opportunities can increase the earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training. We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical and Electrical Technician to join our team at Cassington Sewage Treatment Works, OX29 4EB. As the successful candidate, you will ensure that all equipment at our sewage treatment works is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair electrical and mechanical plant equipment. Working within the maintenance team, you will follow robust planned maintenance, participate in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding, and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates all year round.
Responsibilities
* Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance work on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns.
* Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
* Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
* Work on equipment such as pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems (e.g., VSDs), automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, and chemical handling and dosing equipment.
* Participate in a standby rota following relevant training.
* Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical/electrical systems or NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical/electrical engineering.
* Identify potential issues and implement solutions, or escalate as required.
* Provide technical expertise to internal and external staff and contractors.
* Remain resilient and adapt to the pressures of work in a changing environment.
* Work with minimum supervision and, where appropriate, contribute to design and standards.
* Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.
* Be a team player, respectful of others, provide helpful feedback, and support the development of others.
* Hold a full UK driving licence.
Qualifications
* Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical/electrical systems or NVQ/C&G Level 3 in mechanical/electrical engineering.
Working pattern and benefits
* Working pattern: 38 hours, Monday–Friday 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, plus standby & overtime opportunity increasing earnings by a potential £8,000-£10,000.
* Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, plus a company van, tools, and PPE.
