Description
The role of Estimator within our busy Business Development team requires an organized, self-motivated, and meticulous approach. You will be responsible for meeting monthly work-winning targets to ensure the ongoing success and profitability of the division.
You will collaborate with clients at a senior level to develop relationships that increase our chances of securing contract opportunities. Additionally, you will oversee the entire tender process, from developing accurate and detailed proposals to negotiating prices and contract terms with clients.
Developing a good relationship with the Network Plus and Littlewood operations teams will be essential to ensure a smooth handover into the construction phase.
Key Responsibilities
Surveying & Estimating
* Survey potential work sites to establish ground and site conditions, confirm scope of work, and specific design and specification requirements.
* Produce detailed survey reports for pricing and coordination of works.
* Analyze plans, complete take-offs, produce bills of quantities, and assess project documentation to ensure accurate tender submissions.
* Research, source, negotiate, and obtain the best prices and quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
* Develop an understanding of relevant construction methods and technologies.
* Identify the best solutions to meet client requirements, offering competitive prices and value while maximizing project returns.
* Coordinate with the Proposals Coordinator and team members to produce detailed tender submissions.
* Generate detailed quotes inclusive of labor, plant, and material costs, with adjustments for overheads and profit.
* Assess financial, technical, and operational risks and incorporate these into quotes.
* Prepare detailed schedules of works and bills of quantities for Contracts Managers.
* Formulate project programs aligned with contract requirements.
* Understand site-specific risks and analyze them for inclusion in the tender risk register.
* Prepare schematics, layouts, and presentations to support proposals.
* Promote and develop relationships with clients and suppliers.
* Stay updated with industry regulations and legislative requirements.
Business Development
* Review and analyze estimating figures monthly to improve success rates and convert leads.
* Attend meetings across England and Wales to promote Network Plus and Littlewood within the fencing industry.
* Use the Pipedrive CRM system to record, share, and monitor leads and inquiries.
* Liaise with Contracts Managers to maintain client relationships and ensure successful project completion.
* Respond proactively and promptly to client inquiries.
Experience and Qualifications
* Proven success in securing contracts in a competitive environment.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* Construction industry experience, with fencing experience as a benefit.
* Flexibility within a growing business environment.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Good commercial understanding and awareness.
* Attention to detail.
* Methodical work approach with strong organization and time management skills.
* Teamworking, relationship-building, and influencing skills.
* Proficiency in IT for bid presentations and reporting.
