GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant with PRU experience to work within a supportive Pupil Referral Unit in Hartlepool. What You’ll Be Doing as a PRU Teaching Assistant (TA): Supporting pupils with SEMH, behavioural needs, and additional learning challenges Working one-to-one or in small groups to encourage engagement and progress Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management Providing pastoral support and building trusted relationships with pupils Supporting safeguarding, wellbeing, and individual support plans Working closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals What We’re Looking For: Previous experience working in a PRU or alternative provision — essential A calm, patient, and resilient approach Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills Ability to build positive, professional relationships with pupils A genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable young people An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
